Privacy & House Rules
Sky Marmot Watch is a comedy website. It still respects your privacy โ here's the plain-English version of what we collect, why, and the rules of the airspace.
Who runs this
Sky Marmot Watch is built and operated by High Alpine Digital, a digital studio based in Morzine, France. Questions about your data? Email hello@high-alpine-digital.com.
Sightings you submit
When you report a sighting, we store what you type โ a spotter handle, a place label, map coordinates, species, parachute colour, a note, and your believe/hoax votes โ in our database (hosted on Supabase). These entries are public and fictional by design. Please don't enter real personal information about yourself or anyone else: this is a game about rodents with parachutes, not a place for real data. Want a sighting removed? Email hello@high-alpine-digital.com and we'll delete it.
Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to understand roughly how many people visit and whether pages load quickly. These are cookieless and anonymous โ no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no advertising profiles, no selling your data. That's why there's no annoying cookie banner.
What's stored in your browser
We keep a few small, first-party items in your browser's local storage so the site behaves: your light/dark ("Night Ops") preference, your votes (so you don't double-vote), and any sightings cached for offline fun. These never leave your device for tracking purposes. Embedded YouTube videos only load after you click play (via the privacy-friendly youtube-nocookie domain) โ until then, YouTube sets nothing.
House rules
- It's satire. No marmots were issued parachutes, harnesses, or aviator goggles. Marmots cannot, to the best of our knowledge, skydive. Everything here is for entertainment only.
- Keep it kind & fictional. No real personal data, no abuse, nothing illegal in your submissions. We may remove anything that breaks this.
- No warranty. The site is provided "as is", for fun, with no guarantees. Don't plan your actual expedition around a marmot sighting.
- Videos belong to their creators. The clips on Marmot TV are embedded from YouTube โ all credit and rights stay with the original channels.
That's it. Now go report a sighting โ responsibly.
